2018 – Do you remember your New Year’s Resolutions?
How are your New Year’s Resolutions working for you? At the beginning of every year, many people decide to make changes in the coming year. Did you make yours? Can you think of the top three you made for this year?
I did mine and out of curiosity I googled ‘What are the most popular New Year’s Resolutions for 2018’ and guess what? Mine are amongst the list.
So did you think of your top three New Year’s Resolutions for 2018? Let us see if any of your resolutions match with mine and what are the most common?
My top three are: 1. I decided to exercise more this year than in 2017. My goal is working out 6x per week for 1 year. 2. My second one is to eat healthier, which means reduce my intake of sugar and processed foods, eat more vegetables and keep my intake of chocolate down to just once per week. 3. Save an amount of money that matches with my dreams to open my own business.
The most popular New Year’s Resolutions that I found on google are (1) exercise more, (2) eat healthier, and (3) save money. It looks like the most part of the population know what is good for them, however we are in April, and it means that 1/3 of the year is already gone. The good news is we still have 2/3 of the year to do whatever we want.
It means that we have time to exercise more, commit to our nutritional goals, and take the correct actions to make sure we are saving money.
You may be like me, you know your New Year’s Resolutions, the year started and before you realized, it is April and the procrastination took over. In my case I was achieving roughly 60 to 70% of my goals as I was working out between 3 to 4 times per week, eating 2 chocolates per week and saving money has been difficult as generating my clientele was slower than expected.
You know when you feel that you are close but you are not quite there yet?
I want to share with you some actions that I have been taking to help me return my focus when I compromise myself.
The most efficient way to activate your goals is to be specific with your goal. The most specific as possible. Let me give you an example, my first resolution is to workout 6 times per week, so I can achieve my goal weight of 80 kgs, at 8-12% body fat by the end of the year.

Is your New Year’s Resolution SMART? Now I would like to share with you some ideas to keep you on track.
- Start by focusing on just one of them. I suggest picking one that it is going to demand the most energy.
- Do whatever is necessary to keep you on track. Write down your goals and place it where you can see it, you can schedule it in your calendar.
- Feel the responsibility and take action. You are the only one who can drive your life, it is your responsibility to take the next step and to take a real action.
I hope you enjoyed this blog and if you have any more ideas, please, leave your comment.
